These boots are great for float trips and fishing prairie rivers, but upon hiking through moderate to rugged terrain, their incapability becomes blatant. Their ankle support ranges from none to flimsy and the lacing design is poor. When pulling on the laces, only the slack around the ankle pulls through. Tightening the slack along the bridge of your foot must be done carefully--I have owned the boots less than a year and have already sliced through a set of laces.
Winter-fishing is O.K. with these, as flows are so slow and low that you can shuffle across any river as delicately as you need to. But with summer fishing comes the need to hike trails, make your own, boulder-hop from hole to hole, and plow across high flows. You cannot trust these boots to ensure good grip, minimal blisters, and no rolled ankles.
