Fabric around the ankle area is too weakReviewed by Anonymous from NY on Monday, June 8, 2015I can't believe nobody mentioned in the previous reviews that the fabric on these shoes is so weak that it tears right away. I got many cut threads on the ankle area after wearing them just once on a four-mile hike. I have never had fabric on my hiking shoes tear, ever, even after wearing them for years, much less around my ankle. This is an anomaly: I was sure that a hole would develop after wearing these shoes four, five times. I returned them for the defect as I would have returned to Danner itself if STP wouldn't accept it. This was my first Danner, and I would probably never buy Danner again.

But couldn't pass up this deal once I saw it on STP! I usually wear a 9 to 9.5. I buy 9.5 in ski boots and boots, and these fit perfectly right out of the box. Still haven't taken them on a hike but they were very comfortable.

We don't go on our hiking trip until next month, but I am sure they will work great! Sizing is pretty correct - I usually take a 7 1/2 in shoes and 8 in boots, and I purchased an 8 which was perfect with enough room for thicker socks.

With thin socks I can make them work, but hiking downhill means my toes hit the front. Unfortunately there are no bigger sizes to order.
