David Brooks Embroidered Jacket - Boiled Wool (For Women)

I have returned this item. I was very disappointed in the fit. Not sure how this could be sized as a medium.

Of the 15 boiled wool pieces in my wardrobe, this jacket gets the most compliments. The embroidery, the cut of the neckline, and the finish work on the sleeves make it unusual. (I am not into ornamentation, and would not normally have purchased something with colored embroidery, but at the time it was one of the only deep chocolate colored boil wool jackets available. I also initially thought the cuffing on the jacket sleeves didn't match the style of the remainder of the jacket.) But I always get the most specific compliments about the embroidery and the cuffs. The jacket's sizing is exact, maybe even a bit small. I usually wear the upper end of the 12-14 size, and the jacket fit perfectly. There is room only to add underneath one thin layer, something like a silk turtleneck or a long sleeve tee. A sweater in between would cut down on the jacket's slimming line. The arms look gargantuan in the picture, but I have long arms, and the sleeves fit perfectly. also am long-waisted, and the jacket is not too short. (Many boiled wool jackets are.) The boiled wool is less thick than that used in the more expensive boiled wool jackets sold at STP, but its softness also enhances the overall look of the jacket. As most reviewers have noted, the jacket is more a sweater, than an outdoor jacket, something to be worn in a conservative, yet relaxed professional environment.

Right out of the bag I loved it. It looked great with a pair of dark brown slacks I also rec'd in this order. I was glad I also added the silk turtle-neck to layer underneath it in a wheat color. Great looking, fits very well, and is made of a fine fabric with lots of detail in the embroidery, which have roses in rows down the front. It does look like a short jacket, but is actually a sweater. Very nice. Worth every penny.

I will wear this as a jacket to work. I find it very comfortalbe and I like the style.

Good quality and wonderful design

This sweater has a lovely tailored flair to it. It fits well, looks nice and is made well also. I love the brown and cranberry colors - makes it easy for mix and match with different pants.

This is a convenient layering garment. However, it runs small and therefore fits snug. It doesn't qualify as a jacket. I consider it a comfortable and very nice, attractive wool sweater.

This is very lightweight for a boiled wool sweater however, it is still quite warm. The flowers are beautiful and the price is amazing for the amount of needlework that is done on this sweater.nice neckline.

This is a very pretty, well made cardigan. It will be keeping me warm for many winters to come.

I bought this jacket to match the wool plaid crepe skirt by David Brooks. I had orginally saw this jacket (& Skirt) last year at a local store, but they did not have my size. When I saw it by Sierra, I immediately bought it. It is a high quality boiled wool 3 button jacket. The Website does not do the beautiful embroidery justice. The red rosettes are gorgeous. I am petite 5'2, so I always have trouble with the sleeve length, but I just fold over the cuff and it looks fine on me. It looks pretty. I already own a ribbed mock turtleneck from another company that matched perfectly. It does need a top underneath.
