I enjoy cooking with cast iron. It conducts heat well and evenly from cooktop to oven. Enameled coating works great on a glass cook top.

Over the years I've become concerned with the amount of chemicals in our food supply and environment. One simple way I can cut my family's exposure to some chemicals is to get rid of non-stick chemical laden pans. I've slowly replaced the non-stick pans as the coating gives out. At first I tried just switching to uncoated pans. Hey, chefs use them, why can't I? Well, I've discovered that uncoated pans can cause a very sticky cooked on mess—apparently I do not put enough oil/butter/fat in them. Then I discovered my grandmother's old cast iron skillet. It was perfectly seasoned, but alas, I need more than one pan. Enter the Denmark Enameled Cast Iron Skillet. it is pre seasoned and ready to go!! Deep dish pizza, frittatas, perfectly browned meats…I could go on. It is ready from stove-top to oven. Plus, it stays warm after taking items off the heat. When my husband wants seconds they are not disgustingly cold. As a bonus, this is a good looking pan! The only negative I can come up with is the pan weighs a lot. There is no holding it with one hand while pouring and scraping the contents into something else. It is just too heavy. The other minor negative I can think of is the handle heats up. But after one or two minor surprises when you grab the handle, you'll remember it gets hot!! Also, I've taken to leaving the silicone pot holder draped over the handle. That's a good visual reminder!! That being said I still give it a 5 start rating. I new going in that it would be heavy and the handle gets hot. What I was interested in was the even heating and chemical free nature of cast iron.

Quality affordable enameled cast iron skillets are hard to find! STP offers this well made skillet at their usual great price. We have enjoyed using the skillet, preseasoned and easy clean up. Just follow directions. It works well on our glass top cooking surface with the smooth enameled bottom/sides.

We were very impressed by the heft of this skillet when it arrived. I left it on the stove top for a few days and it was admired by all who saw it! The color is super; It heats nicely and cleans up great. This would make a great gift!

This pan is heavy like all cast iron, but what makes it better than others is the grip handle on the opposite side. This makes it easier to lift from the stove top to the oven.
