It provided the right balance to prevent back pain. The shoulder padding could be a bit softer, however.

Ordered this pack for my wife so she could carry some extra gear to keep my pack from being so full. When shopping for packs, I was told Deuter was made to be comparable to N. Face so I was excited to get such great price. It's a nice looking pack and fit her pretty well. I wondered how the mesh back panel would make it fit but it was actually pretty comfortable. It will not fit well on a tall person b/c the pack is not real long and it would hit high on your hips. Would not be big enough for extended trips, just overnight or weekend. Good bag!

This backpack is, without question, the most comfortable of any I've tried out. It fits very well and transfers most of its weight to the lower back making it easy to carry a load. Its design allows the users body heat to dissipate easily through the mesh screening which keeps the pack away from the users back, allowing air to circulate.

This pack has everything I was looking for (built-in rain fly, access to main compartment through top and bottom, enough storage for a long day hike or light overnighter). My friend has had the same pack for a year or so now and loves it. The only problems I have encountered thus far is that the hip support does not have enough padding if the load is maxed out and the load levelers are hard to figure out at first. The pack seems to be geared towards people with shorter torsos (which I have) so those with longer torsos will definitely want to try it on first. Overall, I am really happy with the pack.

First, for my "cons" I'd like to say that the zippers are not weak, it's just that they are hard to open and close. Also, it's a bit hard to fill totally as the main compartment is curved outwards [a problem with ALL vented-back packs]. Anyhow, so far I love this pack. I hike/camp mainly on the East coast, and sweat profusely in the summer. I had wanted to try one of these "vented" packs for a while. The problem is that the "vented" day packs from Gregory, Osprey, or others cost well over $100. I saw this one and decided to go for it. I'm extremely happy with it so far. Kept me dry on a hike that was in the 70's [I'd already be sweating at this temp]. I love that it has a lot of pockets to store small items/gear [one of my pet peaves with most packs reguardless of size]. A nice feature is the added rain cover [it can be detached so you can use that pocket for something else]. The padding [esp. in the back] was confortable[thick and well placed], but the surface material on it and the shoulder straps, and hip belt wasn't as soft as from other manufacturers. One other thing, the hip belt was nice and stiff [not too floppy as with a lot of other packs] so it could support a bit of weight [I had ~20 lbs in it and it was comfortable]. I would definitely recommend this pack and it CANNOT be beat for the price.
