“There is no doubt about it, the trap throwers on this product are very nice quality and easy to use! The 3/4 cocked is a great innovation and eliminates the long after-throw wobble and shaking that follows the old traps, while also making the next shot quick and easy to load. The frame and traps bolt together easily and are rugged and heavy, as you'd expect.
However, I would not say the frame comes apart so easily that you want to be assembling in the field. It is all bolted, no quick releases or collapsing. I have not tried to drive with this in my hitch and they do not say if that is approved, but unless you have a pick-up or VERY large SUV, that will be a necessity for most people.
Perhaps the biggest problem is that with all this throwing power and ease at your fingertips, the device's usability is severely limited by the tedious adjustment of the trap direction which uses several bolts. In order to adjust the direction three bolts are used on a three-way hinge, so you need to use a wrench make a new throw while the shooter stands around. You wind up throwing the same pattern over and over.
If you are going to throw just a handful of clays, you are better off with a hand thrower which will give you variety, costs a few bucks and fits under your drivers seat.
Of course, for a long day of clays, you will need a trap like this, but I agree with the previous reviewer that it really requires the addition of the "wobble kit" which appear to be upgraded three way joints that are moved by hand. This amounts to about a $60 to $70 upgrade for two joints. These really should come standard on a thrower of this price!”
