These things are great quality. And, at STP price, wonderful purchase. I wish they made a little longer nose plier, but these work great. I used them for bass fishing, which is probably not their intended use and why I want a longer nose.

I have a few pairs of cutting pliers around. This one was the same price as the stupid replacement blades for the other pliers. So, I bought it and they are very nice. They are not side cutters.

Haven't used it yet. Should be good for clipping leaders, etc. Not yet sure how close to the fly it will nip the leader though. Easier to use than the nail-clipper style, but also more to carry. So this rating is provisional.

I've put it in my home toolbox, where does a good job - it's just too heavy to carry comfortably when I'm fishing.

    • Answer Yes the pliers are left open when not in used. The handles have a nice rubberized grip which make them easy to use with one hand.
