I usually wear a size 9, and ordered a 9 1/2 based on other's reviews. If you want to do an extraneous hike, go for the full size up (I should have ordered a 10). Here is my reason: I used these boots for my 3day/2night Grand Canyon hike. My right big toe is now black and blue and I expect that it will fall off eventually. Anyway, the impact of hiking down pushed my big toes up against the shoe, making the rest of the trip a little difficult. Also, the top of the shoe was a abrasive on my skin (even with the socks). Thank goodness I had moleskin, which saved me. Too bad moleskin couldn't do anything for my toes. If I had to do it again, I would just go into a retail store, find shoes that fit, and pay the higher price. Shoes are not something you want to mess around with when it comes to hiking.

Finally a shoe that gives great ankle support and is narrow enough for my feet to stay put and not move around. Must order half size up though. They do run half size small.

These boots give better ankle support than brands that claim to, & unyielding pavement may be a better test of comfort than mountainous terrain. I need support for aching flat feet & ankles that roll in with every step, & spend much time on pavement training my dogs for competition, plus walking them on trails. I had 8 pair of boots shipped in, & these are the only ones I kept. As for being waterproof, I haven't given them enough of a test to be sure, but the tread is better than most for digging into packed snow. They run narrower in width than most, (has anyone else noticed that B-width boots seem wider than B shoes?) but these were fine for me. Wide B's may need to order these wider. I was told to order 1/2 size larger, & that worked. These are not AHh-h-h cushy right out of the box, but they give good, sound protection for feet that were not good from youth & have worsened with age. Glad I found them. [...]

I like the light weight, but pinches my foot badly, after wearing a hour hurts. Good ankle support. Don't think size would have mattered. Shoe felt snug but going down hill it did not hold my foot in place, too much give. Am returning.
