“These boots are incredibly comfortable even right out of the box. They feel like a sort of tennis shoe/hiking boot hybrid (fitting, as New Balance owns the Dunham name): The main body of the shoe is lightweight and breathes, and the footbed is very well padded, yet the ankle is thickly padded and supportive and the sole and tread feel substantial. I suponate rather than pronating, so I require a lot of cushioning in the footbed, and I'm always looking for hiking boots with adequate ankle support that don't rub my ankles painfully. These boots satisfy both requirements. I haven't tried them out for seriously long-distance hiking, rugged trails, or in inclement weather, but they would work beautifully for day hikes and light packing. A note on fitting-- Depending on the style and manufacturer of the shoe, I wear 9 1/2s (flats/heels), 10s (casual shoes and boots), and 11s (running shoes). I ordered these in a size 11 and they fit very well, with about half an inch at the end of the toe box and no rubbing on the heels.”
