I find Eccos in general to be a bit narrow, sometimes a bit shallow in the footbed, and almost always, considerably light in arch support.
These shoes have the above. Additionally, they lack lateral support for say tennis or basketball. They have good but not great walking structure. The arch to ball of the foot doesn't transition with a smooth roll, but the toes flex naturally.
Take a look at the sole striking surface verses the shoe brim; the striking surface is smaller than the foot, recessed 2-3 mm all around, which adds instability, but will likely improve with wear.
They have Solid/affirmative cushioning, a slightly lacking heel cup, great traction, and very comfortable interior.
In their defense, I have mildly falling arches and moderate pronation. My favorites for support are Mephisto walking shoes. I've never had Ecco walkers, only gym shoes.
I own several pairs of Ecco's. They are the longest lasting shoes I've found for trecking my 210 lbs through the city. Regular gym shoes last 3-4 months before they mush-out and provide no support. Eccos give me a good year or better.

Ecco is a brand I trust and have come to rely on. I was a little surprised at how "lightweight" this product appeared and I just hope it is as durable as the many other Ecco items I have used over the years.

Too Stiff

Sizing:
Feels true to size

Feels too narrow
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I sent these shoes back. They are narrower than my ecco boots, and so pinch a bit. It also felt like the tongue would bite for a while, as it was stiff and hitting my ankle.
