eGear Multi-Power Dynamo LED Lantern with Cell Phone Charger

I bought this lamp for a car camping trip to a very remote area. I was concerned that we not be dependent on things that could break or run out of usefulness. The lamp is small and the light output is not huge but it works very well for a personal light. We had a great time with this lamp. It became an evening game to wind it up. Don't ask me why two middle aged adults would get so much pleasure out of winding a light but we did! Perhaps it was using our own power to get light.

Nice little light , bought it to have in a camper, or to have around the house when the power goes off I have bought so many recharge able light that fail when you really need them these crank lights are a good idea.

I really like this lantern. The light output is good. You are supposed to run the battery down before charging it the first time. It put out light for a day and a half. The crank is easy. It is not too heavy. I connected my Samsung Instinct charger to it but it refuses to charge even though it is under the 4V limit of the lantern. I really bought this lantern as an emergency phone charger so that is a huge disappointment. I sent an email to egear but never heard back. I would give the lantern four stars but because of the charger issue it is getting three.

Very nice little compact light. Not super bright, but perfect for lighting smaller areas. I bought it for the bbq. No more over cooked steak for me. The light works perfect, and i can recharge it while waiting for the meat to cook.

The product is fine, but the performance is so-so. A crank charge will only alight the lamp at a useable light level for a very short time- 2-3 minutes. A car charge is much better. In short, this is good for limited usage, such as a home power outage or tent camping, but not for a big-time emergency or expedition. Next time I camp I'm probably bringing my battery lanterns.
