We have only learned how this works, but seems to be fine and easy to receive a station even in our house in the woods. The only con is that the ability to charge a cell phone is limited to certain brands and ours is not included. Seems to be high quality and I feel it would be reliable in an emergency.

I've only used it once during a storm and it worked fine for reception I do not live near town and this is typically my issue). However, there is a small storage area on the underside, and it wouldn't open. When I forced it open, the latch broke.

I haven't been camping with it yet. It's a little bit bigger than the crank radio I had, but the sound is better. I also like the feature of being able to charge my cellphone from it. I also like the option of charging from an adapter in addition to cranking it.

Sound good in its own discription from the manufactor. I was excited to use it. However it take forever to charge. Manual crank is there but imposible to charge. We brought once with us to our kayak trip, disappointed from lack of catching signal. then on the second camping trip, sadly to find out it is completely dead broken for no reason. Hope this help you from not buying this item.

This is a good quality piece of emergency equipment. Can also be used for outdoor activites. But as i have found with most products imported from Asia, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Very confusing.

    Pros:
    Construction feels solid
    Cons:
    Ni-Cad batteries, No 110 V adaptercharger
    Best Uses:
    Weather Emergencies
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Purchased for home use during weather emergencies/power outages. Construction appears solid, the charger crank handle appears rugged. However, batteries are NiCad, and no voltage converter/charger is provided to charge from household outlets. Per the manual, it is impossible to charge fully by hand cranking. So, the ni-cads will develop "memory" limiting ability to hold a charge. Also, it will not be possible to leave the unit on stand-by around the house, to make use of the "weather alert" feature. Probably will have to search for a compatible charger and spend more money to get full use of the radio's features. Disappointing.
