Actually returned this because the radio would only pick up one station on FM and none on AM even though we have many stations that come in loud and clear. Double checked that the battery was fully charged, don't know if this was defective or an overall design problem. Having access to a radio was the primary reason for the purchase.

Bought this to have access to info in the event of an outage. Light is a nice bonus. Like the housing - should be easy to spot in the closet if I have any light to see by! Lamp works well, is reasonably strong. Can't pick up NOAA broadcasts very well but can pick up FM no problem. Charged off car outlet 1st time as recommended, but crank turns easily.

What a brilliant piece of gear. The NOAA standby mode is great, allowing you to leave the radio on without killing the charge as it waits for a broadcast, while the WB option lets you flip through the various preprogrammed NOAA stations. The LED flashlight is plenty bright enough in a pinch, but I wouldn't use it as my primary lighting source. What the photos don't show is that the light on the flashlight can be extended up and pivoted in multiple downward angles, allowing you to use it to read a map, etc. Also not shown in the photos is that there is a small storage compartment on the bottom of the unit to carry your cell charging adapter or the cigarette lighter adapter for charging the unit itself. Because you are not able to crank it all the way to full charge, I'd recommend charging it fully with your car once, then you only have to crank it as needed once that wears off. Also, it doesn't take much cranking to get you a decent amount of power for the radio/light either, but it does take a pretty good amount to get enough charge to charge up a cell phone; that said, it is enough to get it up to make an emergency call and that's what matters. The outside coating is almost textured rubbery stuff, like on those old Sony Sports Walkmans, but the unit itself is not advertised as splash/water resistant. For me, this radio is primarily for sea kayaking trips, and it gets left in the truck, just in case.

The bright yellow color makes this stand out in the pile of other drab camping supplies. Kids have fun using it, but my hubby also plans to take it hunting next time he goes out.

Sturdy construction including crank handle, and good battery life after cranking or car charging (a previous different crank radio/light was neither). Brightness only adequate, but its 3 LEDs may have the best brightness/batterylife combination. Radio reception AM/FM/NOAA all good even in the woods (tested in the Adirondacks). Sound good. Car charger gives complete charge but takes 5 hours or more. Instructions are poor; eg all seven NOAA channels are available but it's not clear that to get them you have to push the "Weather Band Scan" button on the yellow face up to seven times (the button sequentially scans each channel); and the light bends but doesn't "swivel" or "focus". Bottom storage area is too small to hold everything. On others' comments: a household-plug charger is available from the manufacturer's website but adds to cost; bottom storage area latch shouldn't break in normal use, but latch may wear out with time. Overall a good buy.

Sturdily built. I bought it for emergency use, situations when there is no power. It's great that it never needs batteries

I cannot comment on how it functions,as I have not used it yet, but after two recent power outages, I can comment on how useful such a radio is.
