Eider Premium E17XX Sunglasses

I've only had these glasses a few weeks, but so far I love them. High quality frame & great lenses. Enhances all colors and light. Only con is product decal on left lens that can distract, otherwise worth every penny.

Very disappointed. At first these seemed like great shades. They're stylish, lightweight, and sturdy. I do not typically expect the lifespan of sunglasses to be two months. I usually lose sunglasses before they wear out, but these are an exception. The lens coating has begun dissolving off the outside of the lenses. My best guess is that this is as a result of the me wearing the glasses while running (and sweating). The coating seems to have a problem with salt. This would not be an issue if I just rolled around in my air-conditioned minivan listening to Enya all day, but I actually use this product daily while running, and it has not held up at all. I order a lot of stuff from Sierra, and usually it is quality stuff - but these glasses are simply not merchantable. DO NOT BUY - unless you like Enya.

great price for a great product. only wish they didn't put the logo on the lens

Eider is a French company that makes excellent clothing/jackets. Their quality is definitely on par with North Face,Mt. Hardwear etc. Unfortunately they are not well known in the USA. ...because this company is not very well known these sunglasses are a steal at this price. The frames and lenses are of excellent quality. The frames are made of light weight aluminum that are stylish and surprisingly light. The lenses are dark and do an excellent job of blocking out the sun. The inside of the lenses have a purplish coating that reduces glare. Overall an excellent pair of shades.

Excellent in strong light

I liked these so much I bought a second pair so I have a backup, and before they were no longer available. Lenses are a nice medium brown tint that I like (think 'blue blocker'). One thing that's not mentioned in the description is that they have a purplish anti-reflective coating on the backside of the lens, to reduce glare from light that reflects off of your face onto the back of the lens. The front of the lens has a goldish look to it. The frame is a nice brushed aluminum that is stiff and light, and the metal is thinned at the temples so that it will break in that specific location if you get hit in the face with something (or if your face hits something.) It has good coverage along the top and wraps slightly around the sides. It could use a bit more coverage on the bottom edge, but then that would change the look of the glasses, too. Nice one-piece metal nosepiece that's screwed to the frame, with comfortable rubber pads. The only downside is that it has 'Expander' printed on the lens, which you have to look at/through, but that's the only negative.

Look is a bit youthfull for my 61 years, but why not?

These are better than my oakley's.
