Would not calibrate, did not work

I could not get this compass to tell me I was heading North, no matter which way I turned. It kept telling me I was going SSE or SE. For some reason the calibration did not work. It has been returned which is unfortunate, I liked the size and other features.

The compass is true to north and south, but completley undependable for east and west. I have re-calibrated the compass almost daily, but have not had better results.

Rough Directionality

This product would be a delight if it worked. As a dash-top, general Alpaha (N,W,E,S) compass it is passable. Better compass service comes at four times the price. "Mosquito Repellant" characteristic works as well as the time and temperature services - it doesn't. Was about to return unit yesterday when the compass resumed operation -- I need it, and will risk keeping it.

The first one that I received did not work. The minutes were counted as seconds and no matter how hard I tried, I could not calibrate the compass. The second one I received wouldn't calibrate either. After messing with it for about an hour it magically calibrated on it's own and now it works great. If you can get it to work it is extremely useful and accurate.
