“These seem like they will be very comfortable in hot weather. The mesh strip runs up the inseam about as high as the hem of shorts so there shouldn't be a "modesty" deficit. The fabric is thin which is fine but there could be some see-through if you wear darker/floral underwear, especially if the pants get wet.”
