The fabric these jackets are made of is great and unlike anything I've ever seen. And the description listed as "a substantive, heavyweight fabric that has the handsome look of a sweater-knit on the exterior, but is lined in soft thermal fleece." is dead-on accurate. It's has a very thick, warm feeling, and the interior fleece feels fantastic the moment you put it on....instant warmth like being wrapped in a blanket. It feels warm enough it could be a substitute for a full winter coat in a pinch. I'll only note again that ExOfficio jackets run large, so order down one size.

Reviewed by gulfbreeze from FL on Friday, April 12, 2013Ordered a this medium men's Alpenal jacket, but had never worn an ExOfficio before so didn't anticipate the generous sizing. Not only too big, but the zipper was left-handed for a women's garment. Sierra did a quick exchange and sent me a small, which fit great, but the prominent horizontal stitching on the chest missed meeting in the middle by about 3/4 of an inch. Since it was a dark jacket with lighter stitching, it was very noticeable. I've sent this one back to try one more exchange. Hope the new one has no flaws, and I like the very warm/thick fabric and style. I'll update when the new jacket arrives. As noted in the title, Sierra has been fantastic throughout this issue. They are tops in customer service!
