I think they run pretty true to size, if a *touch* small in the waist, but the cut is very roomy. One zip back pocket and one touch closure (small velcro/hook-and-loop tab in the middle) pocket. Not a fan of the touch closure for the leg pocket, would rather see a zipper or no closure there. Very light weight, should be great summer pants. I can't comment on the bug effectiveness but Insect Shield normally works well.

Belt loops will take a 1 3/4" belt. We spend lots of time cutting trails in thick woods and weeds. Haven't found any bugs lingering on the pants. So far so good.

Though I initially bought them for the bug protection in this Zika season (all mosquitoes, really…), I find I'm wearing them more for comfort than protection - Nice to get both!! If the belt loops were better spaced, I'd have happily given 5 stars...
