ExOfficio Canopy Trench Coat - Waterproof (For Men)

I needed a light weight water proof jacket to wear with a suit or in the field, this is the jacket. Very well made and light weight.

A trim, good-looking way to keep dry, without the shapeless neon yellow swampy. Good for almost any rainy day - except, perhaps, for formal wear.

Great looking coat that is lightweight, has lots of pockets, a hood and other great features for a person who travels and needs a casual rain coat....

A great substitute for my long-gone 60/40 parka. Practical pockets, good zips and snaps, and fits well over a jacket.

I bought it for my son who seems to be rather happy with it. His impressions are ok so far. I am sure he will acid-test it sooner.

I wanted a light weight, water proof car coat that had a two-way zipper and this coat fills the bill very well. My old one (of some 15 years) was by Pacific Ttail / London Fog, but it did not have a two-way zipper. Even so, I wore it constantly and wanted to replace it. This Canopy Trench coat is a perfect alternative.

i generally love ExOfficio clothing, and first purchased the Barometric Trench from this site. I loved everything about that jacket save for the fact that the zipper simply did not work. I sent it back and decided to take a chance on this one. Glad I did, as it is exactly what I wanted, and the zipper seems to be fine. I have always wanted a jacket like this: a really nice, lightweight packable shell that isn't executed in all manner of bright colors and emblazoned with giant logos in 5 or 6 places all over the jacket. In other words a jacket that performs as a wind & rain shell but also has refined style. This is that jacket. It's got a very nice overall look, and the features are all there, including a removable hood, which is great. My only negative comment is that the drape of the jacket is slightly bigger than it needs to be. I purchased a size M, and the fit is overly roomy (I am 6' and 165 lbs). Thankfully the oversizing can be corrected somewhat by the waist draw-cord on the inside of the jacket.

Nice jacket overall. Good quality, nice fit and finish, dry seams, good fabric choice, but they should have used better zippers. The teeth are too small and the zippers snag occasionally. This has more of an urban adventure appeal than a trail jacket. I have used it frequently over the last year and it has kept me bone dry in all types of wet conditions. It packs small and can work over a blazer or with flops and shorts so it is rather versatile and a good all around choice when traveling.

I got this jacket because i needed an inexpensive raincoat to wear around the city. I have only had it for a few months and some of buttons that snap the outer cover close have torn through the fabric. I'll also echo the zipper catching problem mentioned by others. It is water prrof and a nice looking jacket, but it could have been made a lot better.
