ExOfficio Gobi Explorer Pants (For Men)

I purchased these primarily for hiking, and I like the fit, weight, and pockets. However, I find them quite comfortable and use them for casual wear, as well.

A previous reviewer's suggestion was to just buy them. I am glad I did. And then I bought 2 more with the intention of gifting one. But am now not sure about the gifting idea, since these are closeouts and probably won't be available again anytime soon! Sitting on the couch right now, I am surprised that I am wearing these very pants, and am not in my pajamas! And it has happened many times before.

After a week of hard use in the Boundary Waters, the opinion was unanimous (my wife has the women's version), these are the best all-around outdoor pants we've ever worn! Not the lightest weight, but breathable enough to wear in most cold to warm conditions, and the cuff cinch allows for them to be drawn up above or below the knee when things get hot! One of the coolest things was how resistant they are to tears/abrasions. We walked through thorns and briar patches and the pants didn't so much as snag in passing. I guess the best I can say is that these pants will be in my pack for every foreseeable future trip!

I wanted a pair of pants that could hold up to hike's in Kauai on my honeymoon and take on mountain trails in Arizona.The pant's water proof ability will work great in the rain on my trip. Back home the stain resistance / light weight will combat the red clay trails and won't wiegh me down. Look's like I found the perfect pant!

Wow. I bought 3 pairs of Ex-Officio pants and the Gobi's are impressive. I own MH pants and Ex-Officio is up there with them. The Gobi's have pockets galore, zippered pockets, gussets and articulated, stetchy, good looking, zippered legs - high quality and a great price at Sierra. Highly recommended. Haven't hiked with them yet, but wore them to work and they were great. Buy them.

I bought the product because of the number of pockets, but also the fact that some of the pockets had zippers. I bought it to travel to Vietnam and where I don't want to carry a back pack, though, I ended up carrying my 6-year olds backpack. I was pleasantly surprised how good it looks and how well it fits. I bought three of the very same pants. Washed and hanged one in my hotel room while I wore the other. My friends thought I was wearing the same pants for the whole trip.

The only complaint is in jest, there are almost too many pockets - you have to remember which flap to which pocket you put things in. They are all easily accessible and veary in shape/size for diferent utilization. Looks good enough to wear with a camp shirt for casual wear along with hiking. Like the double fabric in the knees and other key areas to create better protection when hiking off trail or scrabling. Also cinch at ankle cuffs allow you to wear pants that maybe a little longer than normal. Although a little more expensive that most hiking pants on STP, you can see the effort put into the construction.
