    I got this shirt because I sometimes do photography in a location with lots of biting bugs. Instead of spending time swatting away bugs or spraying myself and my clothing with potentially toxic sprays, this shirt (and other Insect Shield products) allow me to concentrate on my photography.

    As a big fan of Ex Officio's lightweight shirts for summer wear, I had been hopeful that this shirt would be lighter than a previous Buzz-Off shirt that I had from them. Unfortunately the base fabric is not one of their really lightweight ones. The features are very nice including the sleeve and side vents, I was just looking for something that wasn't quite this heavy.

    The fabric in this shirt has enough cotton to have more body than many adventure shirts. It has long sleeves for sun protection but also has enough ventilation for keeping cool. One of the best features is the pockets. There are 3 large pockets which are handy for travel. One is zippered for security. The shirt seems sturdy and well-made.

    These shirts fit a size larger on me (I have mediums and they fit like larges). It provides a comfortable airy fit though if that is what you may be looking for. For field work having them a bit larger is nice for comfort, especially in the heat, but for casual wear I would personally order a size smaller. I often work around heavy tick, mosquito, and chigger populations and so far these shirts have kept insects away.
