ExOfficio Insect Shield® Vented Hiker Socks (For Men and Women)

I think this is a good sock for the price. The "Buzz Off" protection is a hard thing to measure...but I'm sure it works great. That's the main reason I bought these is to the Buzz Off, since I hunt and fish alot. Otherwise, the sock is very comfortable. I just wish it went up higher on the calf.

Use with wool socks.

These are marketed as hiking socks, but they are very thin, especially for poly blend socks. I got some merino wool socks as well and even they were thicker than these. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the Insect Sheild, but I would not wear them for anything more than a short day trip, certainly not for an overnight trip, unless I used them as a liner for heavier socks. Having said that, they are very comforatble wearing around day to day and for the price cant be beat!

Although I haven't field trialed these particular socks yet. I have used other insect shield socks and they work like advertised. Since I was attacted by chiggers a couple of years ago, I will not go out hiking or walking around during the insect prone times of the year without them. Last year during summer tick season here in Virginia, my son and I went for a short walk around his new property. He was constantly picking ticks off his legs and I remained tick free. Great product, even better combined with other insect shield garments.
