3.0 out of 5 stars. Good PFD but bulkyReviewed by Anonymous from Chicago on Monday, September 1, 2014I received this PFD back in March, and my initial impression was that it was well made and great construction. The Retroglide made the PFD comfortable to wear, and didn't cause it to be crooked or ride up. The biggest issue with this PFD, and why I give it a 3/5 stars is because of the bulk. I do a lot of angling kayaking, so figured the extra pockets on the front would be great to store lures, however it impeded my ability to paddle efficiently on Lake Michigan. I had to hold the paddle straight in front of me, with my arms stretched for the shaft not to rub the PFD.
After much frustration, I figured this PFD would be best for a boat or possibly a canoe. I ended up getting a Kokatat Maximus and could not be happier with my choice. Although I still have not used it, I can tell the slimmer design will make paddling more efficient. -
3.0 out of 5 stars. Heavy and very bulkyVerified Buyer Reviewed by MHD from Ohio on Monday, June 30, 2014While this is a very well made PFD, it is very bulky and heavy. I purchased it for a fishing for a kayak. It is to bulky to wear comfortably in a kayak, so I returned it.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Good Value as UsualReviewed by ffeingo2 from Lee, Massachusetts on Thursday, June 6, 2013Sale items from Sierra are always a great bargain. I volunteer to instruct basic paddling and water safety so I am always adding to my PFD collection.
I purchased these fishermen's vests for use by non paddling passengers in canoes. The stiff, reinforced backplate is ideal for those sitting in the bottom and leaning against a thwart; a built-in backrest. I was amazed at the volume of the front pockets. Good for wading but, even empty, in my mind, represent a hazard in any boat other than a wide open canoe of skiff. If I put anything in them it may be pieces of closed cell foam. Not for extended paddling or rowing. Well made and lots of floatation. All-in-one strap system, I feel, is a needless innovation. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Size matters!Reviewed by Sonny from Eureka, California on Friday, May 17, 2013It is made very well! If it would have fit, I would have kept it! But if you are a 52 jacket size or greater and have a beer belly like I do, it is probably not going to fit! Seems like the 2xl is a little over stated! I would say an xl size!

3.0 out of 5 stars. Heavy and BulkyVerified Buyer Reviewed by Pine Cone from Puget Sound Area, Washington on Saturday, July 28, 2012Bought this to use in a kayak or rowboat. When pockets are full of fishing gear they make the front of the PFD too thick to paddle or row with.
It would be great for fishing in any sort of motorized boat, but it weights almost twice what most of my other PFDs weigh.- Chest Size: Feels true to size
- Cons: Difficult to row when on, Heavy, Too bulky for kayaking
- Describe Yourself: Advanced
- Pros: Lots of storage
- Was this a gift?: No

5.0 out of 5 stars. Extrasport Sturgeon PFD Life JackeReviewed by Jersey Joe from New Jersey on Thursday, May 31, 2012The life vest is great. Very comfortable. Holds
a huge amount of stuff. Perfect for salt water
fishing. Does not interfere with the back of the
kayak seat. Not restricting with paddling motion.
I would recommend to a friend. In fact I already
bought 3 of them.- Best Uses: Boating, Canoeing, Paddling, Personal Watercraft
- Chest Size: Feels true to size
- Describe Yourself: Intermediate
- Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Good Ventilation, Lightweight, Waterproof
- Was this a gift?: No
