We wanted this for boating with our little one. It fits to size. The only issue is that it really needed some kind of closure up by the chest. We'll have to create one. Without it, the device comes up over his chin.

This is the third PFD for my three year old, 40 lb, grandson. The other two were age/weight appropriate and excellent purchases also. It was a little harder to pick a good one this time because he requires more freedom with his increased conifdence in the water. This summer, with the Extrasport Volks PFD, he does not hesitate to throw his head back and "swim" for a good distance. In fact he is delighted to do so. Teaching him to float on his back in prior years was tricky because he was afraid, although he was supported properly. This year he also puts his face in the water and holds his breath for five seconds at a time. This PFD gives him (and me) confidence in his freedom to enjoy the water although I still stick within four feet of him. When he jumps in the 4 ft depth, he doesn't immediately float up and that made me a tad nervous at first, but it's all part of the process.
At first I thought the fit was too loose around the neck, but after a few fittings I realized I needed to tighten up the leg harness in order to correct the neck. Tightening up the waist strap also brings it closer to his body. Making the vest fit snuggly is the key to the mobility. The arm holes and leg straps allow maximum movement when the bouyancy are pads snug.
