This bag is lovely well made and somewhat heavy. If you can take the weight of the bag, you have got a wonderful bag that will last for years. I am not sure how I will use this bag but I am glad I have it especially at this price. I really like the design and the interior pockets.

i love filson products and this is a beautiful well made bag which i wanted to love so much. however, this bag has a design flaw with the handles and weight distribution. i read the reviews where others had mentioned the bag being heavy, but i typically carry a lot of stuff so i'm used to that, and how heavy can a bag be?!
well, it's not that the bag is heavy, the handles are set right near the center of the bag so the weight isn't distributed, it's concentrated right there - this makes it feel extra heavy. plus, the handles are made of rounded leather which means that what feels kind of like a load of bricks, digs right into your shoulders. if the handles were located more to the outer sides of the bag, and were wider and flatter, i think it wouldn't feel nearly as heavy.
i wish i had done more testing at home with this before i took an out of town trip as i think i would probably have returned it. i wish i could give it a higher rating, but until this design flaw gets fixed.

I am enjoying the Filson Tote. This bag is heavy, durable leather with large pockets easily accessible from the outside. The leather quality is lovely, with a subtle sueded surface on most areas. Zippers work smoothly and the snaps engage themselves via magnets so there's no need to fumble after using them. I use this bag to commute my laptop, binders, and papers to and from the office. The only negative on this bag is that it weighs more than I had anticipated. However, I'd gladly schlep a bit more weight and not have to carry 2 bags just to get everything I need to the office. You could use this as an overnight bag on travel, too, plenty of room inside!

About Filson

C.C. Filson began outfitting the Klondike Gold Rush stampeders over 100 years ago. He knew his clothing had to withstand the bitter cold and harsh conditions of the Klondike, and the survival of his customers depended on gear that would keep them alive in the frigid North. While the Gold Rush may be ancient history, C.C. Filson outdoor clothing is still going strong… maintaining the firm's reputation for honesty, legendary quality and durability. Every C.C. Filson garment is robust, rugged and manufactured from the finest materials available, so its wearer can withstand the rigors of the great outdoors. As the folks at Filson say, "might as well have the best."
