I ordered these a half size bigger than I usually wear. They were so small I couldn't get my foot into them.

these were great right out the box, probably because I read the previous reviewed and ordered a full size larger. hald size larger might also have been enough, can't tell though. they feel very sturdy, and seem to be of very high quality. I've been using them everyday for over a week (> 5 mile a day) and very satisfied. they are stiffer than sneakers, which is how they should be. not waterproof - so I sprayed them with waterproofing spray, which was easy enough. highly recommended.

While browsing for some other shoes, I noticed that STP is now selling these and that the average review was only three stars! Having owned these myself for over a year, I felt obligated to weigh in on the review of these outstanding shoes/boots. Here's what I like so much about them: incredibly comfortable, nice and cushy sole, very sticky sole, lots of support and cushion around the ankles, very good weather resistance while still remaining breathable, very high quality construction and materials, excellent lacing system (very adjustable yet secure), and they roll very nicely from heel to toe when walking (rather than clunk the way some boots do) on hard surfaces. There are only two things that I think are worth mentioning, and frankly I don't think of them as being faults per se. First, the soles, being made of a relatively soft and sticky rubber, can leave marks on a floor if you're not careful. And second, the sizing seems to, from my experience, run a FULL SIZE smaller than usual. For example, I typically wear a 10 1/2 or 11 and these fit me perfectly in a size 12. I did try the 11 1/2's in these and they might have worked (in warm weather) but because I wanted to use these in colder conditions and use thick socks, I've been very happy that I went with a size 12. Also, I think it can be seen from the pictures that these are not a shoe that would go well with dressier clothing. But they do go great with casualwear--and of course in outdoors, which is what they were really designed for anyway. Speaking of pictures, I'm not sure how well people can see how much rubber is cupped around the heel on these--and how functional that can be for descents.

Finally, I consider these to be a very good value at $100. At the prices they're going for here, they are a ridiculously good deal. In fact, I thought about buying another pair on here, but then realized my wife would see that I've truly gone over the edge with shoes/boots. I had not heard about the brand 5.10 before but when a coworker noticed me wearing them one day, He noted that in the new England area where scrambling over very hard, slippery surfaces can be a challenge, their sticky soles are more well-known and highly-regarded.

Highly, highly recommended based on how happy I am with mine.

About Five Ten

Five Ten is a family-owned company dedicated to producing superior climbing shoes, approach shoes and outdoor footwear. Founded by veteran rock climber Charles Cole in 1985, Five Ten has been reinventing the climbing shoe since day one. Starting by creating an all-new, high-friction rubber compound for shoe soles that he would later dub "Stealth," Cole set out to enhance gripping power and make rock climbing safer in the process. Today, Five Ten climbing shoes like the Anasazi slipper and Prima shoe are worn by some of the world’s best rock climbers. In fact, even endorsed climbers who are paid to wear shoes by other companies resole with Five Ten's Stealth climbing soles. When it comes to performance on the rock face, few other companies hold a candle to Five Ten shoes.
