I had purchased a different Fjallraven jacket a few months ago and was so impressed that I thought I'd try the Eco-Tour jacket. It did not disappoint! The craftsmanship is great. The fit is tapered. I'm 6ft tall and weigh in around 225 pounds and the XXL fits somewhat snug. When climbing in and out of my Jeep Wrangler, it lets me glide in and out without resistance like some other jacket materials. It provides great protection from wind and rain. I really love this jacket.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Initial impressions: quality, quality, quality.

I am very lucky to have grabbed one of these great jackets while available. The sizing listed on STP seems accurate. I usually wear a 46-48 chest jacket (generally an XL), but opted for the XXL (47-49 inch chest) and the fit is great. A little bigger than I might normally prefer, but I believe that the XL would have not allowed for some extra layers beneath (Arc'teryx Atom LT or RAB Microlight) like this one will in the winter. The sleeves are a tad long but plenty adjustable, and I'd much prefer long to short.

Read up on Fjallraven's G1000 fabric and specifically this eco-shell and you'll read rave reviews about its functionality as well as their commitment to creating carbon-natural and recyclable gear. It is my first piece of Fjallraven aside from a hat and, it being the summer, it is a bit difficult to test durability and functionality. I am confident in it, however. The construction is first-rate, and full of useful features. The hood is huge and should easily accommodate a helmet. For my purposes (generally wearing with a beanie and perhaps a hood of an insulation layer), it synchs down just enough to be functional. Zippers are solid, double storm flaps ensure that no water is getting through the main zipper. It is over-engineered if anything, but I did't buy it for a fast and light option. The removable (zippered) fake fur around the hood is a nice touch (great to have the option, but I'll likely use it with the fur off 90% of the time), as is the removable snow skirt.

Bottom line: I'll have this jacket for a very long time. I just got back from a trip to northern Europe and was lusting after some of the Fjallraven gear. Leave it to STP for me to come back to the states and be able to buy it at an affordable price!

Great quality jacket. The seams are sealed really well so no wind gets through. The faux fur keeps the snow off your face.

About Fjallraven

The Fjallraven story started more than 60 years ago when a 14-year old named Ake Nordin began trekking in the mountains of his native northern Sweden. Eventually, Ake started to notice the backpacks of the time didn't bear loads well, and decided to build his own. Within a decade, Ake was creating backpacks under the name Fjallraven, which translates to Arctic Fox in Swedish. Today, Fjallraven backpacks, jackets, fleece and outdoor apparel are helping people discover and enjoy the great outdoors all over the world.
