I do have fat calves and I thought that having a large size would help. But I never even go them that far-- they barely fit over my feet (I wear a 9 1/2 shoe)! The fabric was nice and soft so if you have smaller feet and legs you might be okay. But there is no stretch in these socks so they were a bust for me.

So wool socks are an important part of my winter wardrobe. This was my first time buying Fox River socks and I could be happier. They are soft, extremely warm and did not slide down my leg like some other over-the-calf socks I have. Plus, they survived a pass through the washer and drier! No hand washing for this guys!

I have significant bone spurs in the back of my feet (from the stop and go of playing basketball in my youth) that always wears out the socks in the back. These socks are reinforced enough to not wear through easily. In addition, the socks don't slide down because the maker uses extra material sewn at the top to avoid this nagging habit of most knee socks. Thanks for carrying the Fox River brand.
