I recently bought this coat and have fished with it once so far. It was a dry, but cold starting, Rocky Mountain day. This is a great coat! Even though I haven't used it in the rain yet I held it under the sink and it is highly water repellent. It was a great outer shell on a cold morning. It was in the upper 30s when we started and this coat and a fleece was all that was needed. The ample front, sealed pockets are great for gloves, camera, etc. the length is perfect for wading. The fabric seemed a bit stiff out of the box but has not been an issue. Also the body is a little oversized. I bought large and am 5'8" 155. I thought about returning it for a medium and would have if I only planned on wearing the shell. Since I'm often layering I stuck with the large and it was fine. Overall, a quality constructed coat from a respectable manufacturer that performs well above its price point. Great product STP!

The description of "way cooler" couldn't be more wrong. The fabric resembles the mesh of reusable shopping bags, not something to wear. This is one of the few XL that fits too large for me.
For $12 it is a keeper if it will repel the rain like it will repel complements.

These are my first breathable waders so I can't comment versus anything but neoprenes, but man are these light and comfortable to move around in! Bought them for winter steelhead fishing and have used maybe 5 times so can't give a "toughness" or wear rating yet, but will say that be prepared to wear something other than jeans under them for warmth. I bought some Kenyon Polarskins expedition weight fleece bottoms (at the same time from STP) and they work pretty well for insulation, but a good pair of fleece wader pants (Simms?) would probably be ideal. SIZING is another thing to be aware of- I wear a men's size 8 street shoe and have always had to buy size 7 bootfoot waders (even wearing 2 pairs of sox) so I originally ordered 7's with the Hellbenders and guess what? They were too small in the feet. Returned for size 8's and they are still a tiny bit snug so I am now only wearing a single pair of sox. Other than that these are nice waders with 3 chest pockets for cell phone and snacks. Only time will tell how they hold up versus neoprenes but so far I like them.
