I have only hiked 4 times in these boots but from owning another pair of Garmont boots I expect that the soles will wear very slowly. I hike in rocky environment and other boots all have worn out quickly. The only drawback is that they are not water proof. Although I use them in the desert, we often have swollen creeks to cross.

I needed new boots to wear about town and on day hikes and dog walks. The lacing design is great and allows for better support than regular lacing. I have never ordered Vegan shoes before, you can't tell that the "suede" bits aren't hide. The traction is good and the sole is just the right stiffness without being clunky or uncomfortable. The price was great - these are just as comfortable as my old Merrel's and at half the Sierra Price! I hope they hold up as well.

So far, my 17-yr old has worn these boots on a few short hikes (all under 5 miles). They fit exceptionally well, give ankle support without being restricting, and have good grip. The laces seemed really thin and akward for the boot, but easily replaced.

I bought these shoes for my daughter to use for paragliding. She needed sturdy, waterproof shoes with good ankle support for landing. A major plus is that the insole is removable so she could insert her own orthotic for arch support and a perfect fit. Thank you Sierra Trading Post!

My husband bought the men's version of this vegan boot and he really loves it. This is a really great hiking boot. It's perfect for keeping your feet dry, the traction is excellent and the ankle support is sturdy but really comfortable. I purchased my first pair last year and I have worn them a lot. They worked really well during the blizzard and were still in excellent condition after hiking through Civil War battlefields. I purchased them because I was looking for a vegan hiking boot and these boots had all the qualities I was looking for in any hiking boot, plus they were vegan. If you didn't know, you wouldn't think this was a vegan shoe. These boots are very durable and the quality of craftsmanship is excellent. I had another pair that I gave to my daughter because my first pair felt like they were 1/2 size too small for me. My daughter loves them too, and wears them on days she has a lot of walking to her classes on campus. My boots were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I really wish Garmont would make more shoes like this. Their vegan shoes rock!!!

Never before have I been able to stand the ankle high top model of hiking boots but these Garmont boots are something else! They are "out of the box" comfortable for me, protective around the ankle but not annoying. I agree with the reviewer who thinks the insole supplied is not particularly arch supportive. But with a pair of hiking insoles from Superfeet, these feel really great and will, I think, go the distance. This is a fairly flexible, light weight new style hiking boot of great promise. Good fit in the heels and great room in the toe box. I plan on backpacking wearing them and feel hopeful they will give good service since they are the product of a particularly well thought out design and seem exceedingly well made.

I love the look of the shoe; I still have some reservations about its overall comfort on a sustained walk or hike.

I ordered these shoes a half size larger than I would normally wear due to previous reviews and this worked very well for me! The shoes fit perfectly and leave room for heavy or layered socks. I love the ankle support, the soft comfortable feel of the shoe yet with firm gripping soles, and how warm they keep my feet (I live in northeastern Minnesota) but still allow for breathability. I also have wide feet at the ends (narrow towards the heel) and this shoe works well for wide feet. However, I did find that this shoe lacks the arch support I need with a high arch foot as it is wide through the middle also. I took care of this problem simply by buying arch supports and rearranging how I tie the shoe. The construction and durability of this shoe is also impressive. I have always expected shoes made with all synthetic materials to not be as durable but this shoe has proven me wrong. This shoe proves you do not have to spend a fortune for a high quality cruelty free hiking shoe. I am a BWCA and Superior Hiking Trail enthusiast and this shoe works for this!

Although I haven't worn these hiking just yet, I have been wearing them to work as I am on my feet for 9 hours a day. They are more comfy than my running shoes and didn't need any "breaking in" at all. I can't wait to wear them out on the trails. The only thing I don't like is the color as I imagine they will get dirty rather easily. I guess we shall see! :)
