I love these shoes, they were surprisingly comfy and versatile right out of the box. One of their greater qualities is how unique and durable their structure is, especially the soles which proved to be grippy on all surfaces. They have a very roomy toe box and cushy padding in all the right places. If it's aesthetics you are worried about the color in person is a little more subdued than in the picture, it actually looks much more natural and pleasing to the eye.(Especially with a pair of jeans or hiking pants). This shoe was designed for all round performance combined with unmatchable comfort. I myself would recommend them for anything from hiking to casual outdoor activities to walking your dog. Hands down great shoe, will not disappoint!

The shoe is more attractive than the picture. The lugs on the soles are almost too rugged although I didn't wear them outside. Lateral and arch support were a bit iffy. The company says it uses the foot's natural cushioning and that is true. The firm footbed felt like my hiking shoes from 1972. The toe box is wide but not overly so. If you are a hill hiker, you may want to go a half size larger.

I bought these for an upcoming hiking trip and am very pleased out of the box. Also, I have been technically a size 8 for years and am totally annoyed that shoes don't seem to fit right anymore. I can be anywhere from an 8- 91/2 now. These were 8 and fit correctly. Great toe room and stabilizing of the ankles and arches. I can't wait to try them on the trails, I think they are going to be very comfy and grippy even in loose gravel. I agree with others that they'd look a bit silly in any situation but trails; but that's what i bought them for, so who cares?

These shoes have great room in the toe box -- perfect for that descent. The features of the shoe make a difference. The offset laces, the tongue design, and the heel structure make them especially comfortable. The color is strange, but I love them for hiking.

These seem like great shoes just for a slightly different shape sole than mine. I had to return them but they were close, I would recomend trying them 'cause you never can tell until you try them on. They are great looking, and I wished I could keep them.

These shoes were so comfortable I ordered two more pairs to keep on hand. I wore them everyday during the winter when I didn't have to wear boots. They were warm and provided enough protection from the elements. They have a lot of room in the toe box. They are a nice alternative to sneakers.

My Garmont hiking shoes are wonderful and I am very happy with them. I have not used them in very hot or wet weather yet, so I cannot judge their breathability and ability to dry quickly. But I felt very supported in my arch and they have great traction in various terrains. I discovered why they are seconds and it is such a small detail that no one will notice. The shoe lace holes are just a wee angled off-center, but perfectly symmetrical. For the price and feel of the shoe, I am at peace with their, my own, and the world's imperfections

While this shoe is not meant to offer ankle support, it grounds the foot in a wide footbed and holds the heel snugly, supports the arch adequately and is instantly comfortable. I experienced NO need for break-in, just put them on and forgot about them. The protected toecap will add to their durability, they grip uneven terrain and while they're not intended to be stylish, so I hesitated to check "everyday wear," they can go just about anywhere. A terrific mud/rain shoe that keeps my feet dry and happy!
