The Shaman is a solid choice for a freeride oriented back country skier. It is light enough to get the job done on the skin but still has a nice tall cuff and stiff enough construction to drive large skis on the way down. Tech binding compatibility and quality Garmont construction.

This is a great touring boot that you can use for crusing the pistes too. Two things to check. 1. Make sure you get a binding that will do both jobs (touring and downhill) I recommend the Marker Baron or Tour. Or if you are using this boot on touring skis and downhill skis make sure your downhill bindings will take the sole thickness at the toe end. (The Marker binding has an ajustable hight toe clip.) 2. I think the sizing is a bit small, I have this boot in Europe and the boot fitting shop insisted I needed a 28.We spent a whole season pushing the toe of the shell out to get my toes to fit. I have bought the 29 in the US and it's fine. The shell is 10mm bigger than the 28. Good luck Martin.

70/30 frontside, backside. Super, extra comfy boot. Never worn a boot that fits this well. A little flexy, top of foot buckle may come undone when heavily flexed. Much lighter than an alpine boot of comparable stiffness. Walk feature seems well designed. Cool overlap design - easy entry exit.

  • Question “what is length of sole for sz 26 (length in mm is molded on sole side)?|what is date of manufacture (2010+ is wider last at toe area).?”
Asked on 1/25/2013 12:00:00 AM by john from United States
    • Answer The sole length is 305mm for the size 26. These boots were produced for the 2010/2011 ski season.

  • Question “Will these boots work with downhill ski bindings?”
Asked on 2/4/2012 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer Alpine touring boots are designed to be used with compatible alpine touring DIN-releasable AT bindings only. Alpine touring boot soles do not fit most downhill bindings and/or could interfere with release mechanisms.

  • Question “I assume they will work with Fritschi Freerides. Will these work with Rossi alpine bindings as well?”
Asked on 10/18/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer The Garmont Shogun AT Ski Boots would not be compatible with Alpine (Downhill) bindings. The sole would alow the binding to release properly which could result in an injury. In order for an AT boot to be compatible with Alpine Binding it would need a sole like what is on the Garmont Endorphin AT Ski Boots (Item #3538W).
