First day took them on a strenuous hike in mtn conditions with some vertical scrambling in running water and they felt terrific. No break-in time required, although I do recommend nikwax coating before heading out. These are the best boots I've bought in 30 years of hiking/climbing.

This boot is wonderful! Right out of the box it was comfortable and just felt right. Stiff enough for carrying heavy loads but not so stiff I can't use it around the yard and walking in the neighborhood. I'm very impressed with them, just wish I had bought an extra pair at that price!! Mntma

I love these boots. The first time I bought them I tried them on and glad I did as I bought a size bigger than I normally take so this time I knew what size to buy. Other than that I can't say enough good things about them.

The boots felt like they would be comfortable and felt relatively true to size (I wear 8.5 and ordered the same), but my heel slipped enough to cause concern and fear of a hot spot. Not sure if it's just my build, but compared to my Raichle boots, the Raichles are snug across my achilles - no movement. I wish I'd have found the same in these boots. I had to return.

This seemed like a great boot - very comfortable footbed, and didn't seem that it would take too long to break in. But, the left boot was just a bit too tight across my toes, and I didn't want to take the risk of whether it would eventually stretch enough to fit properly. Had to return them, unfortunately.
