This is a beautifully made, heavy-duty work boot--no question. Excellent stitching around the welt, good materials, etc. Very nice. However, the gusseted tongue attaches too high up in the throat of the boot--which winds up making it extremely difficult to get on. A gusseted tongue needs to be a compromise between keeping stuff (water, dirt, etc.) out of your boot, but still allowing you access. Maybe it is because I have a small shoe size and that makes it difficult to get my foot passed the throat of the boot. Perhaps on larger sizes it works better. The other thing is there is no pull-loop at the back of the boot to grant you more leverage in your attempt to get the boot on. So it becomes this intense wrestling match to get the boot on. The only way I could get reasonable entry to the boot was with bare feet. Which is not appropriate in this type of boot. Sorry to say, I will probably have to return these and look for something else. Great service and delivery from Sierra Trading Post, however.

I bought these boots for my husband. He works construction outdoors. In Northern New York, that means cold winters. He has difficulty finding boots that fit comfortably due to an injury. He loved these boots. They ran true to size, wide was perfect. Since they were so comfortable, I ordered them in non insulated for when it warms up.
