“To help folks with fitment, I usually wear a small Giro in their conventional XC helmets. But using their fit guide, I'm technically a medium, but just barely at 56cm/22". The upper portion of the helmet that surrounds your head fits just like a typical XC in the Giro line but the cheek pads are a bit tight. Giro offers these in three thicknesses to fine tune the fit. 30mm is standard, and they also offer a 25mm and a 35mm. Overall, a great helmet, with plenty of strength for such a light weight, while still offering a decent amount of ventilation. You need to be realistic about the ventilation though. While it doesn't flow air like a roadie lid, it offers much, much more protection. FYI, my small weighs 2lbs 5oz, so if you went with the more expensive carbon fiber model, you'd only save ~5oz. Also, you can easily remove the visor and strap a light to the top where the front vents are, so you can still do midnight bombing runs without sacrificing FF protection.”
