Closeouts. Like the British sailors huddled against biting North Sea winds (for whom the magnificent duffle was originally designed), you'll stay warm inside Gloverall of England's classic duffle coat. Distinctive "horn" toggle buttons and leather frogging are expertly crafted as only the English know how.
May have contrasting color inside
No comparison to copies made elsewhere (even the USA)
Generous fit to accommodate winter wear. If you are planning to wear sport coats underneath, you should order next size larger.
Color (09) is 56% wool, 28% nylon, 10% cashmere, 6% polyester. Color (04) is 75% wool, 25% nylon. Color (07), (16), (13), (03), and (10) is 80% wool, 20% nylon.
This is one of the only places outside of England where one can purchase the original Gloverall Duffle coat. This is the "Real McCoy. I had one as a teenager and another that I've had for the past 30 years (I still wear it when it snows!). Originally, I purchased the brown style in a 44 regular. It was a little boxy in the chest and the sleeves could have been a bit longer; however, I was still very pleased. I'm 6'3 1/2 and weigh about 198 lbs. It occurred to me that I might like the camel color better with the brown leather fasteners and the horn toggles since the contrast would be better with a lighter colored coat. The one I wore as a teenager and the one that I still own (from 30 years ago) is a "Monty" styled duffle with the unfinished wood toggles and white rope (jute) fasteners. That style contrasts nicely with a darker colored coat. I exchanged the brown coat in the regular size to a tall 42 in the camel color. It is absolutely gorgeous and fits like a glove. The STP people were great to talk to and were very nice about the exchange. Although this is the original, authentic Gloverall duffle coat, it is not quite as heavy as the others that I have owned; although, still quite substantial. It can not be beat at these prices plus there are all other kinds of discounts with Sierra Trading Post that makes it even more affordable. I'm very happy with my new duffle coat and I hope that Sierra Trading Post gets the "Monty" style in next year so I can replace the one that is over 30 years old. Thanks Sierra Trading Post for allowing me to finally have a brand new version of my most favorite classic duffle coat. As far as a traditional look and a classic style in a winter coat, this is pretty much IT!!!!!!

I had to decide between regular length and the tall
model. And sometimes it is the simple things. No one
in my family liked me in the camel coloured coat. But quality was not a question.

I am very pleased with my purchase [...]. my one regret, being a Canadian in a very cold winter climate, was that I might have ordered the heavier model. but at my age I have no intention of freezing my posteria off in the frozen tundra.

This is a great coat and very high quality. I had ordered the regular size last year, but it was too short. I was glad when they got more again this year and ordered one of the tall sizes (42). I wear a 42L jacket and have a 35/36 sleeve length and the fit is great. Definitely very pleased.

Fantastic winter coat which is really warm and stylish. Can be worn for any occasion, with jeans, chinos, or even a suit. Classic style will never go out of fashion. Only drawback is that it doesn't have a lining so inside of coat is slightly uncomfortable if worn with a t-shirt only underneath. Worn with a knit and button down underneath it is perfect for cold weather.

I compared the 50% with the 80% wool coats. I prefer the 80%, which weighs a little more, has more bulk, is probably warmer than the 50% wool coat - which is important for Chicago winters - and probably is more true to the original WW II version. This coat also matches my first Gloverall, purchased in 1995.
It is an elegant, well made, handsome coat, whose beauty and practicality I always appreciate. I wear it for all occasions - formal, business and pleasure.

I'm five feet five inches tall, and female. I wear about a size twelve, or maybe ten, depending on who makes the clothes. I had some serious doubts about ordering a coat designed for tall men, but I ordered the size 38 and it fits absolutely perfectly. Maybe the sleeves are an eighth of an inch too long, but it's an overcoat! I mean, it fits perfectly. I couldn't believe it. And the teal color is really, really beautiful. Even though these guys are now making cheap plastic toggles held on by what I think is pseudo-leather strip substance, they still completely know what they're doing. They provide that real English je ne sais quoi that looks good on both genders in a totally classic way. The only reason I would ever stop wearing this coat is if I damaged it irreparably.

I was worried at first about ordering this coat because of the tag line that read "for tall men." I am 5'6'' and small-framed, but my coat (sized 34) fits perfectly. It keeps me warm in the winter and is very good at blocking the cold wind in NYC. The only two things I'd say that are missing are a zipper on the inside of the buttons and an interior pocket. Even without these features, I am still extremely satisfied.

Not remotely as nice in terms of thickness/warmth as the women's I used it to replace due to unfortunate mishap. I am truly disappointed at this low end Gloverall best for Fall outings.
