The coat isn't lined but that doesn't affect it's warmth - you just must plan your clothing accordingly so you don't stick to the inside of the coat. If it's helpful, it's a similar gauge wool as a Pendleton indian blanket but a bit softer. And the plaid on the inside, en lieu of lining, is very striking. This is a well made piece that I will be proud to have for years to come.
For the travelers reading this, I bunched it up and shoved it in a bag for a few weeks and when I took it out to hang up, it had no wrinkles or bunching at all - looked brand new.
