My other leather jackets are winter weight & insulated with Thinsulate & wool shearling. I can wear it, and it's too hot. Or not wear it, and feel a chill.
This is an uninsulated jacket. It allows you the freedom of adding and removing layers, and to simply use the jacket as a lightweight windbreaker. In San Francisco, this is the perfect "just in case" jacket that you keep in the back of your car. I've actually rolled it up & placed it in my panniers, saddle bags, and back packs for hikes & day trips.
I've been wearing Golden Bear leather bombers just like this since I was a kid. If you don't outgrow them, a cared for jacket could last a lifetime. This same jacket is made for LL Bean and sold as a "Flying Tiger".
This is a reproduction of the popular World War II era A-2 jacket. Authentic? What's authentic? Government contract jackets of the era all varied slightly, depending on the manufacturer, subcontractor, and production lot.”
