Since a women's 12 is not available in any boot, I bought these. They are comfortable and warm for ice fishing.

    • The product information says 800g insulation, so that should be adequate if you size up from your street shoe size to also accommodate layering of socks, sock liners, and perhaps if you need a better fit to put an aftermarket insole inside, too, which could add some insulative value... Too tight a boot or shoe and your feet could get very cold even if there is insulation, so consider at least 1/2 size larger than your regular size and if you chose to add a different kind of insole or footbed layer, you could go a full size larger... And in deeper snow, consider the value of a good pair of gaiters that hook the front lace of each boot and have a strap under the sole, with hook-loop up the front. This would protect the lace area from ice/snow, too and keep your pant cuffs dry...

      {I'd found a good value in some patagonia 'das boot mid' boots that have some light insulation layer and are good to about -20, but likely they're discontinued -- STP lists a different 'snow drifter 7' patagonia leather boot, same great non-slip sole, insulation, w/ traditional laces that could be used w/ gaiters for knee-deep snow as this also makes the footwear warmer.}

      ...Depending on how you layer other clothing, and the duration you expect to be outdoors and actively moving about, the need to wear extra socks may vary. Half-size larger for hiking or winter footwear is a normal idea to layer socks.
