This is another great product from Golite. It's a very light backpack compared to many similar sized packs. It weighs almost nothing, 1,45 kg.

[...] As soon as I slipped it on I knew it wasn't going to work. The hip padding didn't come close to reaching the front of my iliac crest (pelvic bone). The nylon strap dug in as soon as I tightened it down. I'm 6'5, 215 and my torso is 20". The pack looked and felt great except for the hip padding.

This is a great backpack. I walk the line between going light and having enough room for a few extras that make my trip more comfortable and enjoyable. This backpack has tons of room, is extremely light for what it is capable of carrying. I love the compaktor option for times when you carry less. I'm very happy with this and I paid a fantastic price!

I have been looking for a lighter pack to shave some weight but not sacrifice comfort. I first tried a "frameless pack" but quickly realized that it just was not what I was looking for. I then came across the Quest. I read several reviews which were all positive with one caveat: the padding on the hip belt. I am 6', 185 lbs., torso is 20'' and my waist is 36''. I got the Quest in a Large and it fits very comfortably. I have already put a few miles under my belt and, so far, this pack has performed great! It has ample size to accommodate my preference of gear-style which is as light as possible with comfort in-tact (roughly 32 lbs for a 3 day trip which includes 3L of water + food - so not truly minimalist but not overly heavy either.) I would recommend the top end comfort level for this pack to be between 40-45 lbs so if you are going to go any heavier or plan on a longer extended multi-day trip of 7+ days then you will want something a little heftier. As with most packs with ample volume (60+L) which also have a floating lid and compression straps it is quite possible to overfill this pack and have a heavier load so keep that in mind. If you are a true minimalist and may not carry some larger items this pack is also fantastic. The comPaktor system works great. This is also true if you are going on a day hike. The pack compresses down to a much smaller volume for when you will carry smaller loads which is great to prevent pack "flopiness" and "sway."Overall I would highly recommend this pack for all people with average size hips and frames. If you have a larger waist I can see how the compression-molded hip belt "wings" may not stretch far enough around and could be uncomfortable over the long haul. For anyone else you just cannot go wrong with this pack. Especially with the STP price [...] you just CANNOT beat the value here!

I am section hiking the A.T. and have completed 800+ miles. I am 61 and plan on finishing the trail when I retire. This pack reduces the weight I carry by 3 to 3 1/2 pounds. I also really like the feature of NOT having so many pockets and pouches. Less pockets make things easier to find.
