The close-out prices and extra discounts on Goodhew Merino wool socks prompted me to buy a half dozen pair so far. Time will tell if they hold up as well as Smart Wool socks.

Question “I wear a size 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 shoe, depending on the shoe. I'm hesitant to get the size sock that says it fits sizes 8-11, because I am afraid it will be too big and not fit with my hiking boots. Any thoughts?”

Answer A smaller size will be far too small for your foot. It will be a much better fit for you to get the 8-11 socks.

Answer If you dry them on high heat they will shrink slightly but will stretch back out. I recommend low heat.

Answer Not after one washing, at least. I would recommend these socks. They are well worth the money. Perhaps the best pair of merino socks I own. (and no, they're not the only pair I own)

Answer not if you let them air dry after washing according to instructions. air drying takes overnight in a heated house.
