I have over the years found merino wool socks to be the best overall choice for wearability and comfort. I've had cheap ones. I've had expensive ones. This particular sock surpasses them all. I use them 10 months of the year (in high summer, I switch to a cotton sock). While somewhat more expen... Read More

I have worn the Goodhew brand of hiking socks for a number of years and have been very pleased with the quality of the materials used to make these socks. They are warm, comfortable and do not contribute a lot of bulk inside my hiking boots. Also, they are very durable and hold up well during laundering. No shrinkage -- just follow the manufacturer's suggested method of cleaning. I highly recommend them.

An experienced hiker, I believe that over the years I have tried every brand of hiking socks that exist. I didn't realize what I was missing until I ordered these, after reading other positive reviews. They are not too heavy, not too light. And I like the color so you can check easily for insects like ticks. I bought them for hiking but find myself wearing them around the house now, too. Cozy!

These socks are great. The first weekend I had them I had to hike around prairielands for roughly 6-7 hours a day. They were super comfy, didn't overheat my feet, and kept moisture out. Will definitely buy more in the future.

We are repeat buyers of these socks. My husband is a rancher and logger and these socks last him at least one full year before showing signs of wear.

  • Question “Are the toes and heels reinforced? I always go through the toes and heels.”

Asked on 10/31/2016 1:25:56 PM by Joyce R from MA
    • Answer It has a little extra padding in the toe and heel, but not much. Overall, it is still a fairly thick sock, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
Answered on 10/31/2016 10:17:53 PM by Reeves from San Angelo, TX
    • Answer The heel and toe are not reinforced.

    • Answer I wear the same shoe size but sorry, I can't remember what size I ordered! And yes, I love the socks. I wore them in the snow of Arctic Norway and they kept my feet reasonably warm (I say reasonably warm because the temperature there is exceedingly cold!).

    • Answer If you hover your mouse over or click on the sizes the corresponding numeric size will be displayed in male and female sizes.

    • Answer I wear the same shoe size and I ordered the M/L which are too big. I would try the S/M. Unfortunately I didn't return mine so I don't know how the smaller size fits.

    • Answer hard to say exactly. I wear a men's 8.5 shoe size and ordered the M/L sock size....so maybe you need to order the S/M size in the sock?

Answered on 4/11/2015 10:42:23 PM by Eric from Michigan
    • Answer The product description mentions merino wool, but they are entirely unlike any merino socks I have ever owned. They are made in China, which might have something to do with it. The predominant fiber is something far too elastic for socks, resulting in a poor fit that gets looser over time. I sent all of mine back.

    • Answer 68% merino wool, 30% nylon, 2% spandex. My son loves them. Warm, not itchy (although I must admit, I was wary of the combo at first because I am a 100% cotton lover).

    • Answer A smaller size will be far too small for your foot. It will be a much better fit for you to get the 8-11 socks.

Asked on 11/28/2010 12:00:00 AM by Linda from MN
