I have over the years found merino wool socks to be the best overall choice for wearability and comfort. I've had cheap ones. I've had expensive ones. This particular sock surpasses them all. I use them 10 months of the year (in high summer, I switch to a cotton sock). While somewhat more expensive than others I've bought, they are definitely very well made and worth the additional cost. Not too heavy. Not too light. And they're buttery soft. Good cushioning. I use them every day for every purpose. One thing I have learned, is always turn the sock inside-out when washing (delicate cycle). Hang dry, and then fluff with a softener sheet in the dryer (no heat). This will preserve the sock, prevents pilling, and extends the life of the sock.
