These fit fine over my less than thin calves, and stay up without cutting off circulation. I wear these primarily around the house and while doing yard work when the weather cools, but they are thin (and dressy) enough to wear with office trousers. Glad I got several pairs already.

This is a great sock as I live in 6500 ft. elevation snow country. This is a warm sock that reaches up to my knees and is thin enough to wear regular shoes with. On days that are no so cold this is a good sock to wear when I don't want to put on full thermal under pants. Price was good, fit was good, and they wash nicely. I purchased two pair and would buy this brand again.

I like these. Nice soft wool and enough stretch in the knit that they actually go above my calf for a true knee-high fit. All they had was the brown ones in S/M when I got mine but they fit my size 8.5 foot just fine even after washing and drying.

I purchased three pairs of these socks since black is so basic and I need the extra warmth for winter outdoors and when the temps dip creating a drafty house. I ordered M/L to allow for any shrinkage, but discovered they didn't shrink using a washing machine, and air drying as I do with all my socks. These socks are warm, not itchy, and they are adequately long and stay up. ( I am 5'6") On the down side, they are very slender and have little stretch to them, so pulling them up is not as easy as I would desire, and they are fairly snug around my 13 1/2 inch calves; so if one had larger calves, these most likely wouldn't be suitable for them. Otherwise, I recommend them. Four stars for the need to be a bit stretchier and/or too slender construction.

According to the STP size chart (hover your mouse over the size):
M/L fits shoes size 8 - 10 1/2.
These socks fit my regular size legs a little snug but comfortable so if you have skinny legs these will be perfect.
I ordered S/M (4 - 7 1/2) according to my shoe size which is a 7 and these socks fit great in the foot area.

I wear size 8.5 and also have thinish legs. I got m/l and it worked great.

I wear an 8.5 and have shapely calves. When I got mine there were only the S/M ones available. The foot fits fine with the heal in the correct spot. and they are not too tight at the calf. Even after washing they fit well.

The foot of the M/L fits my size 8.5/9 foot perfectly - not too large as some Goodhew are, so would probably adapt OK down to size 8. The shaft and top band are tight on my average leg, so if you get the M/L they should still stay up. Whether you want to stretch the S/M to the max or wear a less-stretched M/L may also depend on length - it is a very tall sock - good for me at 5'10" but maybe not if you are a lot shorter. It is thin for a wool sock so works well for me in dress shoes. The less-stretched M/L might give you more thickness on the foot that the more-stretched S/M would, so depends on what shoes you want to wear them with. Good luck!
