I ordered a large & they just fit, actually a little snug. Normally I take a med. From wrist base to tip of middle finger is 7in. I would have liked a bit more wiggle room. I think an XL would be way too big. I am hoping they will be warm. Haven't had an opportunity to really break them in yet.

This is my second pair of this model (I accidentally singed my last pair too close to the fire in the lodge). I had them for 4+ years with heavy use on the mountain and they have always been warm and dry. The goose down makes the difference and with Gore-tex they are near perfect. Bought a pair for a Christmas present also! Great investment for cold hands.

The mittens seem very warm, although I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I did have to exchange for a larger size. They fit well in the width, but they seemed a little short in length, especially if gripping a snowmobile or ATV. My hand measures 7" from base of palm to tip of middle finger - and the "large" worked best for me.
