Gottman really does this well--somehow the hat suspends on your head better than most makers. Something about construction inside, although it's not an elastic one=size-fits-all arrangement. Whereas with many caps it either fits very snugly or not at all and hangs on you, this cap sits lightly, not to snug but stays in place. In fact, I can wear both the M and the L sizes because of the way Gottman makes these. And the sizes are fully different patterns with larger fabric pieces throughout in the L than the M, not merely a different sized ring around the head. The brown-grey color must be the most versatile hat color--just about the same shade so many fedoras used back in the day, so it can go with brown or grey or blue or black.

Consider it an investment as it will serve you well for many years to come. This hat is extremely well made of only quality materials as are all Gottman products. It has a mesh lining that is especially nice and will make all the difference in the world during the warmer months. The XL is a generous fit.
