    Extremely nice, soft suede like shell yet seems durable and warm over ears. Ear flap does hold somewhat around the ears even though it has no chin strap, but wind can get to ears if it is blowing much. I've looked and looked for a replacement for the cap I lost, but it was hard finding nice caps with chin straps.

    My husband loves this hat! He commutes to Manhattan from the cold and snowy country and this is the hat he wears everyday... lightweight, warm, waterproof... Other reviewer says wind protection not great -- it's true that the ear flaps do not fit snugly. But it's my husband's first choice for city or country . We've had lots of icy rain this winter and he feels like he's prepared for anything!

    On cold winter days I wear this under a hood, as it is not very windproof, especially under the earflaps. Otherwise, it is a very nice looking hat that has the right amount of warmth. I don't know about water resistance, but I doubt it. Again, supplemented by a hood it is fine.
