It is very well made and sheds rain, as well as offering more all-around protection than the ball cap does. The mesh liner makes the hat very comfortable to wear, so you don't even feel the coolness/dampness from the exterior of the hat. This is my go-to rain hat.

Placed the hat under the faucet with the water running full force. Hat stayed dry. Definitely water repellant. Just wished the brim was wider. Good price. Good fit.

I was hoping to use it to block the sun while hiking, but I overheat while wearing this. I'll still use it for rain, but I need to look elsewhere for something to use when its sunny out.

I can't speak of it's waterproof quality but it is Gortex and I am trusting it will perform. The hat also is perfect for traveling as it folds flat and takes up no room at all. I have a hard to fit small head and the size small fits nicely. I also really like the way it looks on. I highly recommend this hat.
