It was more plaid which I would not have minded but the bill was simply too long. The sides and back ballooned a little but not badly. Just not my style.

Runs largeReviewed by Anonymous from New York on Sunday, January 5, 2014My hat size is precisely 7 3/8, so I ordered a large, which purports 7 3/8 to be the top end of the range for this hat. Unfortunately, it fits more like a 7 1/2 or even 7 5/8. It's quite deform-able, so I can just make it work by pulling it down very snugly on my head with the brim low. I suspect a medium, even if too small, would work due to the stretchiness of this hat. It's quite nice otherwise, possibly a bit brighter and more colorful in person, though. I should note that I keep my hair quite short, so if you have some bushiness on top you may be ok with this sizing.

Great design poor execution.Verified Buyer Reviewed by jojo from Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013This stylish cap would have gone well with any casual outfit I own; given the great looking wool texture and blend of warming colors. However, do to what appears to be a manufacturing defect in the construction of the head band the cap is ill fitting. Also a twisted plastic stay in the forehead section of the headband results in an uncomfortable fit.
What a shame… Great design poor execution.
