I am >50 and wanted some nice casual pants in lieu of jeans and these are perfect. I was concerned that they are pull on and mistakenly thought I needed the size Large to compensate for the lack of a zipper but found that I was mistaken. I am a size 12/14 (pear shape)and found the size Medium was a... Read More

I have not had them very long and only washed 1 time so far. So will have to see how well they wear or if these will fray at the waist, hems etc. Even though they do this I continue to get them as they are so comfortable, have roomy pockets which I really like since I do not carry a purse much any more and I can pack in the essentials.

I wore the two pairs I had from several years ago for yard work and horseback riding since the fabric was so heavyweight, but they started ripping at the back pocket so it was time to replace them. The new pairs are not as heavyweight. I still use them for outdoor stuff, but just lounging around now too since they are a bit lighter.

The new pairs have a lower rise below my belly button (yay), whereas the older pairs were high waisted above the belly button. The newer pairs have elastic in the waist (boo) which isn't tight enough to hold the pants up on its own so you still have to cinch the built-in belt to keep the pants up. The elastic just makes the waistband thicker and can't be removed. The old pairs just had the built-in belt so the waistband wasn't as bulky. The new pair also has a single belt loop sewn on horizontally on the front for the end of the belt to be tucked into. Of course it doesn't stay in and just looks odd to me.

They still are 100% cotton (yay) and have the gusseted crotch for movement (yay)!

The 29 inseam is not 29 it may be 31. They are baggy so expect this-very comfortable but not slimming in any sense. Awesome for hanging out....yard work.... I am 5'2" about 118lb and the small was easy to get into and way too baggy -note the 29 inseam is not accurate. Would I recommend these? Yes! They did not fit but they are quality and had they fit I would have kept all three pairs I ordered.

    Love these pants.

Seriously, I have reordered these pants in Stone multiple times because I wear them out. They're durable; it's just that I wear them all the time. The latest addition is a belt loop on the front to tack down the long tail of the belt - that's a great feature. If Gramicci ever stops making these pants I'm in trouble.

    • Definitely tapered all the way down from a generous hip--originally for climbing, so roomy in the knee with nothing too easily caught at the ankle (does not taper to knee, then fall straight). Hangs more like the leg on the left in the pic, not the right. The leg opening accommodates a boot, although the length is not intended for a heel. Not currently fashionable. (Love 'em.)

    • They are not tapered at all, I would have preferred that. The belt is also too short for my taste - I have it extended all the way out.

    • Not a real straight leg and a little baggy in the seat. Comfortable though for traveling.

    • The color is a light stone/beige colour. I actually wash them with whites and bleach, that is how light coloured they are. Not see through, just lighter beige/stone coloured.

    • I received two different grey colors when I recently ordered "Pebble Grey". One was a warm medium grey; it leans a tiny bit toward green. I returned the other pair, but if I'm remembering correctly, it was a cooler medium gray, leaning a bit toward blue; what I consider a true gray color. I remember liking the cooler grey better, but landed keeping the warm grey pair due to size issues. I really do like the color, but I don't wear anything grey with them. I have not ordered "Shale". I also ordered two "French Khaki" and received two different colors. I've been wearing Gramicci for decades and don't get too hung up on the colors if I can get something to fit well.

    • Pebble grey is actually more of a very faded khaki green. It doesn't look grey at all. But the faded green is a nice color too and so it wasn't a problem. I've just ordered a pair in "shale" and am also wondering about what color I'll actually get.

    • I went ahead and ordered both the Pebble Grey and Shale. They are basically the same color -- both are a grey with slightly different tints. The only real difference is the Grey has a black ribbon and the Shale has a pink-ish ribbon. I also ordered "Fresh Ink". The color is a nice, bright blue, but not as vibrant as it appears online.

    • I believe ebony color is an extremely dark, dark brown color bordering on black. Black is all black and the ebony is more like black w/ a hint of dark brown. Hope that helps. This color would be beautiful with any rust colored or vanilla/cream colored tops I think!

    • In general the rise does not change.

    • I tried XS in the 29", 31" and 33" inseams, and they all have a similar rise. But there is some variation even within a given inseam. The gusset width seems to be what varies the most, but by no more than 1/2". The slightly wider gussets made the difference for me. The rise on the SM is about 1" longer than the rise of the XS, although the gusset width was about the same. After trying ten XS in varying inseams and ten SM all in 31" inseam, I found two XS and and 4 SM that fit comfortably.
